This Charter was created by young people for young people. It aims to ensure services are held accountable to you when they engage you in decision-making and the engagement is meaningful and purposeful.
You can also download a PDF version of the charter or watch our youth-friendly video explaining the charter:
Young people in Angus identified the following principles they feel are important to them when services are designing and developing projects, plans, and policies with you.
Young people can use these principles as a checklist when services are gathering your views.
Angus Core Principles
Our ‘ask’ of services. We want you to...
- Co-produce the engagement activities by working in partnership with us
- Guarantee our involvement is voluntary and the topic is relevant to those involved
- Provide safe spaces at suitable times in agreement with us.
- Help us understand the purpose of the engagement, what we can influence and help us shape our views.
- Ensure the engagement is inclusive and remove barriers for young people who want to take part.
- Respectfully and actively listen to us and always value our opinions.
- Safeguard us, and only share our views from the engagement with our consent.
- Communicate effectively with us, using child friendly language, suitable social media and digital platforms, and other appropriate methods.
- Keep us informed throughout the engagement process and feedback the outcome of the engagement to us.
- Evaluate the engagement and its impact.
Young people in Angus identified social media and digital platforms, and other methods for communicating and engaging with you. Young people have categorised barriers to be removed to support your involvement. You can find out more by clicking the charter link above.
