Awards were given for eight categories:

  • Resilience Award
  • Academic Excellence Award

  • Community Engagement Award
  • Sports Achievement Award
  • Inspirational Leader Award
  • Personal Development Award
  • Friendship Award.

The Promise Awards provides an opportunity to bring together care leavers from Angus to celebrate and recognise the wide range of achievements of care experienced young people from across Angus.

Convener of Family, Education and Justice, Cllr Lynne Devine, said:

“It’s truly inspiring to see so many people and young people from across Angus gather to recognise the achievements of care experienced young people. And to see young people with similar experiences celebrate each other’s successes.

“It sends a resounding message to all children and young people in care or who have been in care that regardless of your circumstances you can achieve anything you set your mind to.”

The awards were supported by the local community and small businesses and organisations through sponsorships and donations.
