Author, Julia Donaldson was back at Auchterhouse Primary last week (Wednesday 10 January) to celebrate the upcoming 25th anniversary of The Gruffalo.
Julia first visited the school in the 1995/96s to introduce her then unpublished story of The Gruffalo to pupils. After a great response from the children, she dedicated the book to the school with each copy carrying a dedication to Auchterhouse Primary.
The event last week was organised by the Scottish Book Trust to launch a year of events celebrating 25 years of The Gruffalo. Guests invited along to the school included ex-head teacher Sheila McCallum and former pupils from Julia’s original visit.
Julia treated the children to a short talk and a performance and gave each child a signed 25th anniversary edition of the book.
The children and staff of Auchterhouse Primary had a wonderful day and were honoured to have Julia and special guests there.
