Met Office extends Yellow warning for rain

Published on Thursday 26 October 2023

The Met Office has extended its Yellow warning for persistent and occasionally heavy rain for the Tayside area until midday on Sunday (29 Oct).

This is expected to lead to some flooding and transport disruption in areas of Angus, Dundee and Perth & Kinross.

The yellow warning begins at midday today (26 Oct) and will be in effect until noon on Sunday (29 Oct).

Further rain is expected across eastern Scotland between late Thursday and early Sunday, with the rain heavy in places although possibly easing off for a time later on Friday or early Saturday.

Accumulations over this period will be widely around 30-40mm near the coast, with 50-100mm likely to fall over higher ground where there is a possibility of up to around 100-150mm in a few locations.

Rain will be less heavy than last week but falling on to already saturated ground is likely may lead to further flooding in places.
