The rest centre at Montrose Sports Centre closed at midday today. The centre at Forfar Community Campus is currently under review.
Brechin Community Campus, where demand for a rest centre has been greatest, remains open today and may be stood down tomorrow - but only once alternative accommodation has been found for everyone.
More than 50 people were able to take advantage of the rest centre yesterday, offering some shelter, company and respite from the worst of Storm Babet.
Can we just offer massive thanks once again to the Angus community and those beyond? – You have played a blinder when it has come to supporting those whose lives have been turned upside down and who have had to leave their homes.
We have received well over 100 offers of accommodation in less than 24-hours, as well as offers of wider support, including clothing, mattresses and sleeping bags, food and a steady stream of volunteers willing to roll up their sleeves and help.
Angus (and our supportive neighbours) – We are so proud of you!
Thanks too to ANGUSalive, Voluntary Action Angus, and Angus Health & Social Care Partnership staff, The Red Cross, and our voluntary organisations for their expertise and commitment.
Our Community Meals team are making their deliveries today and should be able reach most people who normally receive a meal. If they can’t get through, we'll be in touch to ensure you have access to food, or to make alternative arrangements.
We are still in an emergency.
Please remember that anyone who needs accommodation due to flooding should contact our ACCESSLine 03452 777 778. It is available available from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday this weekend to manage roads, flooding and homeless calls.
All other out of hours will go through as normal.
If danger is imminent, please call 999.
Please stay safe out there and don't travel unless it is absolutely necessary.
And please see our Severe Weather Watch page for further updates.
