Local authority and housing association tenants
If you rent your home from your local authority or housing association, there's still lots that Home Energy Scotland can do to help you save energy and keep your bills down. There are many easy, quick changes you can make in your home that will save energy and money. Home Energy Scotland advisors can offer you a wide range of energy saving tips based around your household and lifestyle. Some of these changes can be small, but they all add up.
You might be eligible for funding to help reduce your bills. Use Home Energy Scotland’s funding finder to look for grants and discounts that could help you manage your energy bills.
Private sector tenants
The Scottish Government’s Warmer Homes Scotland programme offers funding and support to households struggling to stay warm and keep on top of energy bills.
As a tenant, you will need your landlord's permission before any installing energy-saving home improvements. Check your eligibility.
Private sector landlords
Home Energy Scotland can help registered private landlords who are looking to improve the energy efficiency of their rental properties.
Discuss your Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), review your funding options or, if appropriate, have your property assessed.
Your tenant may be eligible for the Scottish Government’s Warmer Homes Scotland programme. If they are referred, they will need your permission to carry out the improvements.

Community organisations and charities
Local Energy Scotland administers and manages the Scottish Government’s Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES).
CARES support a wide range of projects, such as installing renewable technologies in community buildings, community benefits and shared ownership.
Local Energy Scotland's services are free and impartial. They will support you at every stage – from initial planning, through development and funding applications, right up to and beyond the launch. They can also direct you to other useful sources of funding and support.

Businesses
Whether you’re just starting out on your energy-saving journey and need some impartial advice, or are looking for expertise and funding to support your current plans, Business Energy Scotland can help.
All small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) looking to improve their business premises in Scotland are eligible, including charities.
Loans up to £100,000 are available through the SME Loan Scheme to help eligible businesses pay for energy and carbon-saving upgrades. Your businesses could also receive a cashback grant of up to £30,000.
