Development Plan Scheme and Participation Statement

The Development Plan Scheme

A Development Plan Scheme and Participation Statement (DPS and PS) must be prepared annually to provide information to a wide range of stakeholders and the public on how the next Angus Local Development Plan (LDP2) will be prepared and the timeframe for its preparation. This document is therefore essential in providing concise communication regarding the progress of LDP2 as we move through the various stages of its preparation. The new LDP is estimated to be published and adopted at the end of 2029 after the following stages have been completed; Evidence Report; Gatecheck; Proposed Plan; Examination; and Adoption have been completed. This DPS will therefore cover the following information:

  • How the planning reform in Scotland will impact the preparation of the next LDP.
  • Update on the implementation of the current Angus Local Development Plan (2016).
  • Proposed timescales for the preparation and stages involved in creating the new LDP, covering the publication of the Evidence Report and Proposed Plan, the submissions of the proposed plan to Scottish Ministers, alongside the expected adoption of LDP (lasting 10 years).
  • A Participation Statement which sets out the ways in which Angus Council will undertake stakeholder and community engagement to inform and help shape the next LDP.
