The Children's Commissioner for Scotland

In 1991, Scotland signed up to an international agreement — the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

This is a set of promises to do certain things to make life better for children and young people.

Scotland's Commissioner for Children and Young People's job is to make sure those promises are kept.

The commissioner has a legal duty to keep on reminding everyone of the promises and can also set up an investigation if he or she thinks the promises are not being kept.
