After completion of a review in 2022, the following Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils was approved by Angus Council on 30 June 2022 and came into effect on 1 August 2022. This scheme provides the framework for the operation of community councils in Angus.
Angus Council, in accordance with the terms of Section 22 of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1994, has adopted the following Scheme of Establishment for Community Councils in the Angus local government area.
This current version of the scheme was reviewed in January 2022 under the terms of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973. It was agreed by a Meeting of the Council on 30 June 2022 and will come into effect on 1 August 2022 or such date as the council may determine.
Any existing schemes shall be deemed to have ceased to apply as of the day preceding the date of this scheme coming into effect.
